Don’t Damage Your Dishwasher

Investing in a dishwasher is a convenient way to keep your kitchen tidy and save time. However, without proper care, this trusty appliance can fall victim to avoidable damage. Here are some tips on how to extend the lifespan of your dishwasher and keep it in optimal condition.

First of all, avoid overcrowding the dishwasher, as this can obstruct water flow and strain the motor. Arrange dishes strategically, ensuring adequate space between them for proper cleaning. Pre-rinsing is unnecessary, but scrape off large food particles before loading. This prevents clogging of the dishwasher’s filter and spray arms, reducing the risk of damage.

As for chemicals, choose dishwasher detergent that is specifically formulated for your machine. Avoid using regular dish soap, as it can create excessive suds and damage internal components. Ensure that your water heater is set to a suitable temperature (around 120°F or 50°C) to optimize cleaning performance without causing harm to delicate parts.

Finally, clean the dishwasher’s filter and spray arms periodically to remove debris buildup. And use dishwasher-safe descaling agents to prevent mineral deposits that can hinder its efficiency.
