It is no fun finding spiders crawling and creeping around your house. Few people enjoy sharing their homes with them. As colder weather approaches, they may be seeking the warmth of your house. How can you minimize the visits from these unwanted creatures?
For starters, do not leave dirty dishes lying around for long periods. Take your trash out regularly. These things can attract other bugs, which attract spiders. Keep your home clean and tidy. The more stuff you have piled up, the harder it is to dust and clean up webs as they are made. Spiders love dark, cluttered spaces, so don’t give them an easy place to nest. Make sure to dust the corners of your rooms, and vacuum regularly. Don’t forget to get spots under furniture and radiators.
Check for cracks and holes in the screens on your doors and windows. You can use natural deterrents like vinegar, or essential oils like peppermint or citrus scents. Spiders hate that. Using diatomaceous earth is recommended if you want to kill spiders and other insects. If you like to remove spiders alive, there are “spider catcher” tools that catch the spider and allow you to release it unharmed.
